I love weddings – the promise of spending a lifetime together, the start of a new life path and then of course the celebrations after the ceremony. Now that I’m married, I truly appreciate the effort that goes into organising a wedding. I believe that unless the wedding is a themed event, guests should dress smart for the occasion. The bride and groom spent months planning every detail of the day, so the least the guests can do is dress nicely. And guys, that means no jeans.
For the wedding that I attended on Saturday, I had a beautiful wedding outfit planned – I was going to wear a beautiful leopard print dress from Hip Hop but I ended up changing at the last minute. The Hip Hop dress had a bit too much cleavage for my liking…
This one-shoulder dress I bought from Zara in Italy last year and I’ve only worn it twice. It’s such a classic dress though, and the cut is extremely flattering. I paired the dress with red lips, simple accessories and platform court heels from Aldo. I took my white coat with me for later in the evening when it got chilly as well as a pair of flat shoes for dancing. Those heels are gorgeous but you can’t wear them for too long if you’re moving a round a lot.
If you’re wondering what to wear to a wedding in autumn, here is what I suggest:
- The outfit. Wear one of your summer dresses paired with closed toe shoes. If you want some extra warmth (and it can work with the dress), wear stockings too.
- Adding some warmth. Take a pashmina to wrap around your shoulders later in the evening when it gets chilly, or even a blazer (depending on your dress). You can never go wrong with a coat, and even with the coat over your dress your outfit will look formal.
Do you have any other ideas for what to wear to a wedding in autumn (or winter)? If yes, let me know in the comments – I’d love to hear from you 🙂 Have a good week peeps!
