Yesterday I was browsing through magazines (with the idea to throw them out, but not many of them made it to the recycle bag…) when I came up with the idea of using celebrities’ outfits to put together my own outfits. I know many of us use celebrities’ outfits for style inspiration, but I decided to take it to the next level and find seven outfits that I will try and replicate over the course of the next week.
The trick is that I’m only going to use the pieces that I already have in my wardrobe – I will not buy new clothes to make this challenge work. The challenge is not to replicate the outfits exactly in terms of the colours that the celebrities are wearing, but rather to take inspiration from the outfits as a whole and use pieces in my wardrobe to achieve a similar look.
I’m sure that many of you, like me, get stuck in a rut when it comes to putting together outfits. We have our favourites that we wear over and over again. The idea with this challenge (for myself) is to get new ideas on how to mix and match with what I already have. I’ve found seven pictures of outfits that I’m going to use for this challenge and it’s a bit tricky since we’re going away this weekend and “dressing up” is not really going to work in the mountains. My friends will just have to have some patience with me 😉 Here are the seven outfits I selected for this week in no particular order.
Do you spot a pattern here? Yeah, I have a bit of a style crush on Charlize Theron ever since she wore this sheer lace top back in 2002.
