Gift ideas for the man in your life

Not only is February the month of love…it’s also my love’s birthday month. I’m posting this a tad bit late, since Valentine’s Day is the day after tomorrow…but I already researched and bought him some gifts for Valentine’s Day and his birthday.

While doing research on Amazon to come up with the best gift ideas for Valentine’s Day, I decided to compile a list with gift ideas – I hope it helps you out! Most of these items are not only for Valentine’s Day, they’re suitable as birthday gifts, anniversary gifts or just-because gifts 🙂

This is the last year where we’ll spend Valentine’s Day and his birthday as just the two of us, so I wanted to do something special – and get him a special gift!

Here are some gift ideas for the man in your life – most of them I’ve purchased for my husband, so it comes highly recommended.

Home theatre system / projector

Last year we decided to get something that we both want for our anniversary as a joint gift, and we ended up settling on a home projector and entertainment system. At the time, I did extensive research for find something that suits our needs, and I ended up settling for this brand.

However, if you don’t want to splurge that much on a projector, take a look at this option. It’s compatible with smartphones and it has received hundreds of rave reviews.

Golf shirts

My husband is super particular about the type of golf shirts he wears. Finding a shirt for him is almost as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack! He prefers plain shirts with no embroidery or branding – or if there is branding it should be very small – and preferably a pocket. The pocket is tricky, so I normally just buy him shirts that fit all of the other criteria.

An elegant pen

A few years ago my Dad gave me a pink (yes, pink!) Parker pen for Christmas. My husband claimed the pen as his, because it wrote in black ink, had a pink case and his argument was that no-one will steal a pink pen. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened. As a businessman in the construction industry, he uses a pen on a daily basis. I quite like the idea of getting him an engraved pen. Then, I came across this tactical pen that has a flash light, can break glass and so much more. How cool?

Cufflinks

We don’t get to dress up for events that often, but when we do my husband likes to wear cufflinks. These cufflinks are stainless steel and can be engraved with a message or even his initials.

Watch

Okay, so I’m a sucker for a beautiful watch. I bought my husband a watch as a wedding gift and I love seeing him wear it. However, he doesn’t like wearing that specific watch on a daily basis while working, so he bought himself this old-school looking Casio watch. Do you remember these?

I quite like this watch as a dress watch option. The dark, understated colour is very elegant – plus it’s not too expensive.

Tactical laser pointer

If your husband or boyfriend is into shooting, then this is a great gift. I scored MAJOR brownie points with my husband’s birthday last year when I gifted him this tactical laser pointer for his hand weapon. If you do decide to buy something like this, make sure that you read the specs to ensure the pointer will fit – and if like me you’re clueless about all the technical stuff, ask someone for help. I emailed the link to a friend of ours who is very clued up with guns and he helped make sure that I ordered something that would fit and work as promised. This is what I ended up getting – and I can highly recommend it. The flashlight is surprisingly strong and has quite an impressive beam distance, and the laser pointer is very accurate.

Where we live, we don’t get a lot of craft beer for sale. This beer home brewing kit caught my eye and I think this is something fun to get for a beer-loving guy!

Beard oil

My husband has had a beard from a couple of years now. He keeps his beard short, but he loves to put on beard oil a few times a week. If your husband or boyfriend has a beard, spoil him with this beard oil!

Weekend bag

I can’t remember for which birthday, anniversary or event I bought my husband a leather overnight / weekender bag, but he LOVES it. Plus, I love buying practical gifts that will be used. The thing about genuine leather is that it will only look better as time goes on. I bought my husband’s bag locally, but here are two options on Amazon that caught my eye for your consideration.

Gin making kit

Gin is my husband’s go to holiday drink. Gin and tonic, a gin fizz cocktail – you name it. I’m not a big gin drinker, but I liked the look of this gin kit. Something fun and different if your man is a gin lover!

I hope you found this gift idea guide for men useful. It’s getting trickier and trickier each year to find my husband a gift that he will love (and use) so if you have any suggestions, please let me know 🙂
