Ndurukoro camp and chalets

A few months ago a group of us visited Ndurukoro Camp & Chalets in northern Namibia for a weekend away. This is the furthest I’ve been up north and all I can say it wow – what a gem this place is! Situated about 150km from Rundu on the banks of the Kavango river, this is a must-visit stop if you’re planning a trip to or from the Caprivi.

Ndurukoro Camp & Chalets offer luxury tents as accommodation, each tent with it’s own bathroom and little veranda. They also have camping sites. We had a tent a little further back from the river, so we didn’t have an unobstructed view of the river, but request a tent right on the river for a stunning view! The sunsets over the river are breath-taking.

Ndurukoro Camp & Chalets has a great Facebook page – plus take a look at their TripAdvisor page. Here are some photos from our trip 🙂

The inside of the luxury tents – you have your own bathroom, a queen sized bed, a fridge and a fan – plus plug points.

Make use of their pool on hot days – it’s divine! The pool looks out over the Kavango river and it’s so peaceful

The men went fishing, and the ladies enjoyed some wine on the deck. Look at the gorgeous rain clouds over Angola!

Our group was the only group at Ndurukoro Camp & Chalets on that specific weekend, which was great. We only stayed for two nights, but next time we’ll definitely stay longer. A few tips and things to keep in mind:

  • Fill up your car in Rundu, there is no gas station close by and you’ll need to be able to make the trip to Ndurukoro Camp & Chalets and back
  • Pack Doom and mosquito repellent
  • Be careful of crocodiles – no jokes!
  • There is very little cellphone reception at the camp

We had a really great time – and we’ll definitely be back! If you have any other recommendations for must-see places in the north of Namibia, let me know 🙂
