{Things I love}

These posts I do on a weekly basis really gets me thinking about what I’m grateful for / what I love. It’s a good exercise to remind you that even when you feel like you’re having a bad week or day, there is still a silver lining. Here is what I’m grateful for this week.

A HEALTHY BODY

I have mentioned that I’m grateful for a healthy body not too long ago, but I really am in awe of what our bodies are capable of. Now that one of my close friends is pregnant I get to experience just HOW amazing a woman’s body is, and what it is capable of. I know that there are thousands of pregnant women, but I didn’t really think about the whole process of (literally) growing a baby until recently. It’s amazing! 🙂

One of my resolutions for 2013 is to treat my body better and so far I have stuck to this resolution. I’ve lost more than 10kg and I’m on a mission to get fit again – it is great to see how your body can transform if you give it some love. Hopefully by next summer I will run marathons and races again!

EVERYTHING THAT I NEED

We so often want stuff when we don’t really need it. With the planning of our wedding I’ve realised once again in what a fortunate position I am. For one, I have parents that will do everything they can to make me (and my siblings) happy and they have been absolutely amazing the last few months helping out with the wedding planning. Pieter and I are also fortunate to be in a stable financial position where we live a fairly comfortable life and we are in a position to help others – not only financially but also by giving our time. It is a great feeling to be able to help and make a difference.

RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW

Last year a friend passed away unexpectedly under tragic circumstances. I have been thinking about her often and as her son’s first birthday is coming up and also her birthday anniversary next month, I have been reminded again that we don’t know how long we have. I think many of us have been thinking the same thing with Reeva’s tragic death, she was just a couple of years older than what I am now. Same with Anene, she was only 17. So at this moment, I am grateful for right here and right now.

COFFEE

This point might seem trivial compared to the others but I’m also really grateful for coffee – especially the last few weeks. As part of the healthier living / losing weight effort I gave up my daily glass of red wine so basically all I have left is coffee 😉 While coffee is probably not the healthiest drink option out there I did make the switch from two sugars and full cream milk to no sugar and low fat milk, and I only drink max two cups of caffeinated coffee per day. The rest of my quota is ‘fake’ coffee (decaf just to be clear) and even though it’s not as good, it’s better than nothing.

What are you grateful for this week? Chat to me in the comments 🙂
