Tiramisu is one of my favourite desserts but so few restaurants get it right. In Italy last year I was on a mission to find the best tiramisu (it’s in Milan by the way) and my fiancé also proposed over tiramisu. He’s a clever guy 😉 Last week I decided to try and make tiramisu. I thought it was a complicated recipe but it’s not. If I knew this earlier I would have weighed much more I’m sure! If you are preparing a meal at home for Valentine’s Day, give this a try.
I used a recipe from BBC Good Food and I replaced the Marsala with rum. I made the tiramisu the morning of the day we had guests over for dinner, but it actually tasted better the next day. In future, I’ll make the dessert the day before – it also helps with time management on the evening. I don’t like to stand in the kitchen while we have guests, I prefer to make everything beforehand and just heat it up or add the final touches. Give it a try, it’s quick to make and yummy (but very rich thanks to the cream and mascarpone) and remember, give it a day or two to develop some flavour. Enjoy!
