Last week I painted my nails a beautiful deep red with a well-known brand’s nail polish that promises to last up to 10 days. After day two of having the manicure, I had to carry the nail polish in my bag to constantly fill up chips and cracks. After much frustration, I decided it’s time for new nail colours. I wanted to buy some of Sally Hansen’s products but ended up buying Nutra Nail’s gel perfect DIY kit.
I’m always keen to try new products and the instructions seemed easy enough. There are three bottles included in the kit as well as instructions that you really have to follow to the T.
I’m not going to go into too much detail about the application steps as it’s easy and it really does set in 5 minutes. My manicure and pedicure was done and completely dry in about 15 minutes.
This photo was taken on day 3 of the manicure and I’m very happy with the results – no chips, no cracks, nothing! I read some negative reviews where other people’s manicures started chipping hours after application, but I think it has to do with their application technique. Follow the instructions carefully and you should be fine. You can get Nutra Nail at Dischem in South Africa. The kit is quite expensive and the bottles are small, but compared to salon prices the cost of the kit is minimal. You’ll also get more than one application out of a kit. I’m keen to see how long the mani and pedi will last but so far so good. 🙂
Update (15 October 2012)
I have now had two Nutra Nail mani’s and to be honest, I’m a bit disappointed. The mani only lasts for maximum five days on my nails before it starts chipping and peeling off. Removing the gel polish is not too difficult with their express removal pads but the gel is damaging to your nails – my nails seem dry and brittle (they’re very short at the moment so I can’t really tell). I think I’ll be sticking to normal nail polish for now, or have a professional gel mani done.
