These boots are made for walking…
I’ve never even noticed the Spitz in Canal Walk, it’s right next to Woolworths, so I decided to take a look at what they have in stock. I have been looking for long black leather boots (remember the brown ones I bought from Foschini?) so imagine my surprise when I saw these pretties right at the back of the store. Friday was a REALLY good shopping day for me! 😉
Carvela is an Italian brand and the fact that the boots are real leather sealed the deal. Lately I have been reorganising my wardrobe and I’m slowly but surely adding more expensive (key) pieces to my wardrobe. These long boots and the ankle boots that I bought are two such ‘investment’ pieces. They are timeless and classic and with proper care they can last a lifetime, therefore I’m willing to pay a bit more for items like these. On the other hand, the multi colour peep toe platform heels was only R180.00 from Fashion Express. They will not be in fashion for more than two seasons (max!) so I don’t want to spend hundreds of Rands on something that I won’t wear two summers down the line.
Here’s my advice: Buy ‘trendy’ pieces from cheaper chain / franchise stores and invest in key and classic pieces from boutique stores (or when you’re traveling – I don’t think I’ll ever regret the five leather handbags I bought in Italy!)
I worked on-site at a client today and I paired my boots with tucked in dark wash skinny jeans and a black blazer.
