Easy hairstyles for summer 2011 / 2012

On beautiful summer days, who wants to spend time in front of a mirror styling your hair? I don’t, I’d rather be soaking up some sun. I did a bit of research and found some cute and easy to do hairstyles for summer 2011 / 2012. Here are a few of my favourites.

Get Hilary Duff’s gorgeous braided chignon by adding some height at the crown and incorporating a braid. Mix styling cream and gel in your hands and rake it through your dry hair, finger-combing it into a low ponytail. Braid the tail, then wrap it around itself, securing it with bobby pins.

For a more casual look, try out a messy high bun with accessories. This is one of those easy 5 minute hairstyles that’s perfect for the beach.

Here’s how to create Eva Longoria’s look yourself: Put all of your hair into a low side ponytail, then pull out the one-inch section of hair that’s closest to your face. Pull out the same amount of hair on the other side. Twist the ponytail into a chignon, braid the two loose sections of hair, then pin them together right above the bun.

A messy side braid suit longer hairstyles. For a more formal look, add height at the crown like Rachel Adams.

Add some volume powder to your roots and pull your hair back into a low ponytail. Separate the hair above the rubber band into two sections, making sure there is a slight gap at the top of the rubber band. Then take the hair in the ponytail and twist as you turn it up and pull it through the open space. Stop before pulling the bottom completely through and secure the style and any loose hairs with bobby pins.

If you have a little bit more time on your hands, why not try recreating Jessica Alba’s braided bun?
